Ancient Woodland at South Devon
At South Devon we are incredibly lucky to have 14 acres of unspoilt ancient woodland.
There are tracks to explore through-out the woods and at the very bottom a lovely little river.
This is normally quite shallow and great fun for children and dogs!
There are a lot of Oak in the woods along with Beech and unusually large Holly. The Beech is at its most beautiful in the spring when the sunlight shines through the lime-green new leaves.
The spring is also a wonderful time for wild flowers - it starts with primroses and wild garlic, followed by masses of bluebells. Just as summer starts the pink spikes of the foxgloves push their way through.
